Diving and snorkeling
Explore the crystal waters of Herradura’s bay, where you will admire a multitude of tropical fish. The tours are in the morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and in the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm waiting for the sunset. Moreover, there is the possibility to attend diving courses of all levels, with professionally trained instructors. If you choose to spend the whole day in the sea.
Torgula Island Tour
An extremely beautiful boatride tour, with possible wildlife spotting (dolphins, manta rays, whales, turtles) brings you
to the beautiful Tortuga Island. There are white sand beaches, crystal clear and calm waters, and a rock reef to go snorkeling while surrounded by colorful tropical fish. On the island you will have a delicious BBQ fish lunch with fresh fruit, beer, and soft drinks. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy while exploring the island or just relaxing on the beach.
Catamaran Adventure

Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio Park has one of the nicest white sand beachs in Costa Rica. The Park has trails, guided tours where you can be able to find slots and monkeys easily. It is at just a hour away from Monte Carlo. It is also consider as a full day tour.
Kayaking
Located 30 minutes away from Monte Carlo, try the adventure of paddling through warm waters to beautiful places where you can snorkel and swim in calm waters. Transfers by kayak to snorkeling spots in front of Herradura Bay or Hermosa beach are also offered. Pick up from Jaco at 7:35 am or 1:35 pm.
ATV Tours
A 2 hour jungle and safari tour departs daily from Jaco. Morning, afternoon, and sunset tours are available. The tour rides through tropical dry forest. Tour includes: bilingual guide, fresh drinks, free transportation from Monte Carlo.
River Rafting
The torrential rivers running down the mountains into Quepos provide world-class rafting for all levels. There are half day and full day tours for beginners and 3-4 day long tours for experts. Tours depart daily from Jaco at 6:00 or 7:00 am.
Tortuguero National Park
This a three-day-long tour. July and August is when the turtles lay their eggs and visitors have the opportunity to watch this spectacular event.
Carara National Park
Located 20 minutes, driving, from Monte Carlo, this tour is one of the best for birdwatching. The tour consists of a walking through trails, accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide, and discovering the diverse flora and fauna. This park is home to a large population of scarlet macaws.
Poas Volcano
This tour is recommended if you have a late afternoon flight out of San Jose. Leaving early from Monte Carlo, the road winds upward, passing many coffee plantations, to the heights of Poas Volcano. A small walk will bring you to view a spectacular, steaming crater—considered to be one of the largest in the world.
Arenal Volcano
Besides the Arenal Volcano, there are numerous ativities nearby. Arenal Lake, the beautiful Fortuna river waterfall, Peñas Blancas River and its wild life, the Caño Negro Wild Life Refuge and the Arenal National Park. This is a multiple day tour.
La Paz Waterfalls
About 30 minutes, driving, past the Poas Volcano, you reach these awesome waterfalls. The trail passes five waterfalls, with viewing platforms. There is also a butterfly and hummingbird farm with countless species.
Horseback Riding
Take advantage of the two or three-hour-long sunset tours in Jaco or Herradura Beach. There are also two and half-hour tours to the waterfalls available. In addition, a 4-5 hour tour, from the beach to the mountains, is highly recommended and includes a delicious BBQ meal.
Canopy Tour
Take a chance to enjoy the adventurous canopy tour. The safe platforms and highly trained staff will allow you to enjoy the amazing waterfalls and various species of plants and animals (monkeys, iguanas, toucans and more) while you fly through the rainforest.
Ultralights
Enjoy 30 or 60 minutes flying along the Pacific coast in a unique open-cockpit plane. Flights available from 7:30 am until sunset.
TURU-BARI Tropical Park
The biggest and most complete Central American tropical garden is situated an hour away from Jaco. In the 495 acres, you can see more than 35 different butterfly species, a unique collection of bromeliads, orchids and bamboo. There are paved trails and bridges so that you enjoy the forest in comfort either walking or riding a horse.
Crocodile Safari
This two-hour tour navigates along the Tarcoles River in safe and comfortable boats. You can watch crocodiles and more than 50different species of birds. There are two tours per day, and the times depend on the tide.
